Midterm Part II

"Rush Week Tea 1949." University Photograph Collection,  James G. Gee Library Special Collections, Texas A&M University-Commerce. 1949. [Fair Use]
It seems like the original photo was used as documentation or possibly promote Greek life to the campus. In the context of my essay, I used the photo to tell a story using my rush experience in terms of what was happening in the original photo. I did take the whole picture, though I added a border to it, however, I did not have the photo for commercial use, nor did I distort the original photo.

"Dormitories c. 1907." University Photograph Collection,  James G. Gee Library Special Collections, Texas A&M University-Commerce. 1907. [Fair Use]
This photo was more than likely used to showcase what the dorms looked like to perspective students. I used the photo to compare it to a current image of what dorms look like today. I did not crop or distort the photo, not did I have it for commercial use.

"Campus Map 1911." University Photograph Collection,  James G. Gee Library Special Collections, Texas A&M University-Commerce. 1911. [Fair Use]
As I mentioned with the previous photo, this map was most likely used to showcase the campus to perspective students. I did not distort or change the image, not did I have it for commercial use. I used it to contrast it to a current map of the campus.

"Old Main under Construction." University Photograph Collection,  James G. Gee Library Special Collections, Texas A&M University-Commerce. 1932. [Fair Use]
This picture was probably used in a newspaper to let people know about the construction that was happening on/around campus. I used it to poke fun of how we are still having to deal with construction. I did not crop the photo, though I did enlarge it causing some pixelation to occur. I did not have the photo for commercial use.

"Homecoming Parade 1956." University Photograph Collection,  James G. Gee Library Special Collections, Texas A&M University-Commerce. 1956. [Fair Use]
As with other pictures I have mentioned, I used this photo to compare it to what homecoming is like today. This photo was most likely used in a yearbook or newspaper to celebrate a homecoming that happened. I used the whole photo, and did not distort or crop it, nor did I have it for commercial use.

Sandbox 8

I will basically just be re-working my photo essay into a video format for the DMP2. I have considered making it solely about Greek life since I ended up finding a lot of Greek life pictures as I was searching for pictures for my DMP1, but I think I want to keep going with the broader theme. I have never actually made a video project by myself before, but I have really enjoyed working on this theme so far and I'm excited to see what I can do with it in a video format.

Below I have posted a link to a storyboard showing my plans for the video thus far:

Sandbox 6 Reflection

The change that goes in around is is so interesting. The picture I chose had women rushing for ADPi. WE don't even have that sorority on campus even more. However, I still feel the connection. Sororities are a fantastic example of that "constant change" thing I am going for. We learn to adapt and better our traditions, but they are still traditions. Things I say and do were said and done by women decades before I was even born. And that is truly just amazing.

I really like going with the theme that there is a change that kind of remains constant. The above picture depicts girls during rush week. I am in a sorority and it is just really amazing to think that these girls were feeling the same emotions and going through the same process I was going through just last year in 1949.
